HBF x Royal Scottish Academy Visual Art Residency - April 2025
Ends on
Residency Dates: Wed April 15th to Wed May 13th 2026
We are delighted to announce a four-week fully funded residency at the Hugo Burge Foundation, open to current Academicians and artists associated with the Royal Scottish Academy.
The residency invites the selected artist to respond to Elizabeth Blackadder's Self Portrait with Cat. During their time at the Foundation, the artist will ‘live’ with this chosen work, displayed within their private studio space, and develop a creative response through their own practice. This is a chance to engage deeply with the history and legacy of the RSA while exploring new artistic directions in an inspiring environment.
The residency includes on-site accommodation, a dedicated studio, a weekly stipend of £350, and mentorship from art historian Dr James Fox. The Foundation is also offering to film the resident during their time, providing material that can be used for their own promotion.
We ask for the successful applicant to take part in a sharing of their work or facilitate a workshop with our community and local residents.
Deadline to Apply: January 9th
